"Tears on a Tranquil Lake" was a short, enjoyable read, but was missing some explanations that I think were important to the plot. Marsha Moore weaves a wonderful tale about Ciel, a girl turned mermaid who is facing the decision of which man to be with. Her writing was clear and the story flowed well, but some of the relationship aspects were too unreal for me.

The author did a wonderful job of creating a world that was detailed, interesting, and believable. Her descriptions made me feel as though I was in the story with Ciel as she traversed the waters and explored the deck of the pirate ship.

Overall, "Tears on a Tranquil Lake" was worth reading. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick, fantastical tale, and who doesn't mind a few unanswered plot points that leave you wondering "how?".
